The Institute for Molecular and Cellular Regulation (IMCR), Gunma University, Japan, is seeking a researcher in the field of endocrinology and metabolism as a full professor, who will be a tenure candidate, for a term of five academic years.
Overview
IMCR is the only center dedicated to basic research in the fields of endocrinology and metabolism in Japan, and is approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). In response to social demand, IMCR aims to perform high-quality basic medical research on lifestyle-associated diseases, including metabolic syndrome. IMCR is also involved in many collaborative research projects undertaken upon request from the scientific community. IMCR is seeking a female researcher to be employed as a full professor, with outstanding achievements in basic medical research, in the fields of endocrinology, metabolism, and associated areas that will expand into clinical medicine. In particular, we are looking for researchers who will conduct research on the mechanisms regulating homeostasis and the pathogenesis of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and aging (e.g., pancreatic biology, hormone action, multi-organ interactions, metabolic regulation via the nervous and immune systems, and biological regulation via nutritional signals), as Professor of the Laboratory of Endocrine and Metabolic System Regulation. After taking up the appointment, the candidate may rename her laboratory.

・Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. or a M.D./Ph.D. degree.
・Applicants should have an outstanding record of achievements in research in the field of endocrinology or metabolism.
・Applicants should be thoroughly proficient in Japanese.
4.Term of Employment
The successful applicant will be employed for five years. The performance of the appointee will be assessed at the end of her term by the IMCR Promotion Committee. An appointee who successfully fulfills the evaluation process will then be appointed as a tenured position of Gunma University, with a retirement age of 65.

6.Fields of Research
Gunma University seeks applications for one professorship in the following fields of research:
Basic medical sciences, in the field of endocrinology, metabolism, and associated areas. In particular, research on the mechanisms regulating homeostasis and the pathogenesis of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and aging (e.g., pancreatic biology, hormone action, multi-organ interactions, metabolic regulation via the nervous and immune systems, and biological regulation via nutritional signals).
7.Duties
(1)Perform basic medical research in the fields described in category 6 above.
(2)Contribute to domestic and international collaborative research.
(3)Publish research findings and present findings at domestic and international conferences.
(4)Apply for and obtain research grants from external sources.
(5)Participate in educational activities carried out at the undergraduate and graduate schools of Gunma University.
(6)Perform other miscellaneous tasks as required by the University.
8.Working Conditions
(1)The appointee will be posted at Gunma University Showa Campus.
(2)The appointee will be subject to the employment regulations of Gunma University.
(3)University regulations apply to inventions and discoveries made while employed in the position offered. Intellectual property rights belong to the University.
9.Salary
The appointee’s salary (annual salary system) will be determined in accordance with the salary regulations of Gunma University.

We are seeking a researcher who studies big data analysis such as metagenomics or single cell-RNA sequencing (preferable to also perform basic wet experiments; immunohistochemistory, western blotting, realtime qPCR etc) in cooperation with the Professor Nobuo Sasaki.
