【Press release】Amino Acid Metabolism Regulates Hormone Secretion in the Body

All Articles

A research group led by Professor Takashi Nishimura of the Laboratory of Metabolic Regulation and Genetics has elucidated part of the mechanism by which the secretion of a glucagon-like hormone is regulated by amino acid metabolism in the body, using the model organism Drosophila melanogaster.
This research is expected to provide important insights into how organisms coordinate energy metabolism and oxidative stress defense in response to nutritional conditions. In addition, findings obtained in insects may help advance our understanding of the mechanisms regulating glucagon secretion and amino acid metabolism disorders in mammals.
